The Center for Firearm Safety and Training announces the following course is open for registration:

NRA Personal Protection in the Home
June 22, 23, 24, 27, 29, 30, July 1, 2015

Classes will be conducted at the Outdoor Sportsman's Club, 142 Sportsman Lane, State College, PA 16801.

Wednesday June 24 6:00 - 8:30 pm
Saturday June 27 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Monday June 29 6:00 - 8:30 pm
Tuesday June 30 6:00 - 8:30 pm
Wednesday July 1 6:00 - 8:30 pm

$95 course fee includes all materials and supplies, including student instruction book, course certificate, and handouts.  Students will require at least 250 rounds of ammo.  We'll be doing a lot of shooting starting on the first night!  Students must be 21 years of age or older and legally able to own, possess, and transport a firearm in Pennsylvania.

Students must have completed the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course.  Students without a Course Certificate must arrange to take and pass a Pre-Course Qualification.

Class size is limited to 15.  Registration via the NRA Instructors web site is required.  Walk-on students cannot be accommodated.  Students must attend all class sessions and complete all range exercises in order to receive the course certificate.

A defensive-style firearm is required, either a double-action or double-action-only pistol or a double-action revolver, chambered in a modern defensive caliber (.38 Special, 9 mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP)  is required.  Target pistols and all single-action revolvers and pistols are inappropriate, as are all handguns using rimfire ammo or calibers smaller than .35 cal.

Students will need a strong-side holster and belt (although there will be no shooting from the holster), at least 1 revolver speed loader or 2 pistol magazines, and a small range bag.  Eye and ear protection is required.  

Registration is not complete until pre-paid, non-refundable $45 deposit is received. (See below.)

This course features enhanced range exercises conducted by a team of very experienced NRA Certified Instructors.  Students receive personalized one-on-one range instruction.

Pack your lunch for the all day Saturday class.  Students who need to borrow a firearm must contact the instructor.
